Hi guys, had a service done recently and now my timing belt is due on a 2006 D4D Hilux, just wondering what you guys paid for the timing belt to be replaced with no other work done?
Thanks

g'day mate, cant tell you just what the timing belt was, i got my 150,000 service and timing belt and water pump done for $1299 from a mecanic who is definatly not the cheepest, but one who provides great service, when they had the timing belt off my water pump was starting to wheep, so i got it done at the same time because if your water pump goes in another 10 or 20k , youve got to paythem to pull the timing belt of again......

the timing belt kit was $350 water pump $240, was carged $500 labour and the rest was colant oil ect... hope this helps

I was preparing for a 2000km road trip to Qld last December around the the 29th and during a pre trip inspection I noticed the dreaded pink stain...water pump done. 140,000k's. Rang a contact at Toyota and managed to get the last pump in Sydney! My Bro and I fitted it and a new timing kit including belt and tensioner for less than 500... If you have the tools, it's an easy job...would've been a hell of a lot harder half way up the east coast that's for sure!!!!

The funniest part about you reading my signature is that by the time you read the whole thing from start to finish you only then realise there is nothing interesting in it.

When my water pump went at about 110 k I had timing belt replaced at the same time while it was apart

Couldn't tell you how much though as I was getting service done at the same time

they're both easy to do yourself..

do a search on how to replace water pump and save yourselves some coin..

i did both on my 06 when the water pump went.. not a hard job..

Just done mine this weekend. Timing belt (including new tensioner and idler), water pump, camshaft seal and new drive belt $370 in parts and 3 hours. A lot quicker if you ignore the workshop manual which says to take the interccoler, injector tubes and cam cover off; not necessary. Just take the air cleaner box out, demount (but not disconnect) the aircon compressor and take the top bracket bolts off the alternator and swing it out of the way. Very simple job. Don't know why the service centres are charging so much

What was wrong with the camshaft seal?

Timing Belt

You get cam and crank seals in a timing belt kit, along with bearings and the belt and this is the best value for money. If your going to the effort of replacing the timing belt it's usually a good idea to replace the seals at the same time to save having to do all that work again if they decide to leak later on. Just got to be very careful not to damage the cam or crank when removing seals and careful installing the new seals. If its only the first timing belt change and you've been keeping up with oil changes then seals will probably last until next belt change is due.

My camshaft seal had a very slight weep (not enough to notice with all the covers on. Seals were in the kit so I replaced the camshaft seal. Others looked fine so I left them

Hey guys, i had the same problem with my 07 SR,it had just over 110 k on the clock, i asked the mecanic next door at my work shop, he quoted me around the $650 mark with non gen parts, i rang Lorna from Jonkers Toyota in Morayfield and asked the question to see if was possible to get under warranty ( mine is over 12 months out of warranty ) and she came back with a new water pump and timing belt for $350 inc, toyota paid for half the parts and labour ..... quiet happy with that

got my timing belt done with the standard 150k service at Toyota in Busselton
cost was around $540 from memory
which i thought was quite resonable
