Is it possible to sleep in new Hilux

Postby pilgrim on Mon, 24 Oct 2011 4:50 +0000

Hi guys,

I've got question regarding sleeping in Hilux cabin?
My friend got new Mitsubishi Triton (L200) - he removes restraints on front sits, pushes front sits the maximum forward, lay down backrest and after such transformation he got two beds ...
something like this:

Will it be possible in a new Hilux?

Anything's possible but that there looks hella uncomfortable, I'd rather throw my swag in the tray than do that ;)

The funniest part about you reading my signature is that by the time you read the whole thing from start to finish you only then realise there is nothing interesting in it.

Well I reckon after 12 green cans ( Victoria Bitter, a popular Australian beer ) and a coupla slugs of Bundy ( Bunderberg Rum, a popular Australian rum ) those laid down seats would be as comfortable as the Honeymoon Suit at the Hilton Hotel ! Just remember to remove keys from ignition so as to not give Mr Plod the Policeman an excuse to get you for being intoxicated in charge of a motor vehicle !
Disclaimer : Some misguided Aussies abhorr VB and Bundy..... I'm not one of 'em.......

Currently I'm also using 4runner's trunk for sleeping, but even for small trip it's not very easy to take all stuff from it :) for long trip - about a week it's even annoying to do it each evening ... it's more easy to set a tent ... but some times it's not possible ... several times has to sleep almost in river and there was no place for tent

So I think this is good option to have possibility of such transformation :)

That's why I have asked whether some of you have tried to put front seat's backrest to the same level as back seats ...

thanks in advance :)

Hi Pilgrim.
The front seats in the hilux wont go far enough forward to be able to do that.
If you fold the rear seat up you can lower the front seat down low enough and push it back all the way which will give you some more leg room.
Its not a comfortable sleep, but when you are tired enough its a far safer option than falling asleep behind the wheel..

Is it possible to sleep in new Hilux

Postby Diddy-Lux on Tue, 25 Oct 2011 2:01 +0000

Like skog said I've done this plenty of times but I put a thin mattress from a swag on the seats and a little plastic tub on the floor for your feet to rest on and I find it very comfy but I'm only 5ft 10 so it's easy
I should of listened to the mrs and just bought the hilux instead of the triton 2yrs ago. oh well better late then never

Yes, it is possible to sleep in a new Hilux. The seats can be pushed forward to create an area that is wide enough to fit a single or two people. The backrest can be folded down to create a bed-like area. However, the space will be quite cramped, so you may want to consider other options if you plan on sleeping in your Hilux for extended periods. Additionally, you may want to look into getting some kind of mattress or cushion to make the sleeping area more comfortable.
