Did you disable the annoying ignition beeper by any chance?

I bought a similar B41TA key from eBay and it worked fine after a couple of tries.

SmOKe, the key needs to be cut to program the central locking, but not for the chip.

Thanks Krusty

That helps with that aspect of it. not sure why it wont code the chip then. Before cutting it and rendering it non returnable ill get into contact with the ebay seller and make sure its the correct chip thats been sent

Setting the ignition key.
Get in and close the doors
Put the Master key in the ignition
-> then remove and insert 4 times
leave key in the ignition after the 4th
Open and close the drivers door x 6
Remove Master key and insert replacement key....then wait.

The red security light flashes quickly 4 times...don't worry if you miss it, just wait....after a minute it suddenly goes out.

Start engine to test. ..... PUT FOOT ON CLUTCH before engaging engine. LOL. I was so focused on programming new key, I forgot and nearly drove Hilux into the garden.[/quote]

I did the first part with the buttons ok but this part took me a good part of an hour! Turns out I think my master key is a bit worn when I put it in ignition it wasn't engaging ( when door is open key in wasn't beeping ) I had to turn the key and hold it hard into off while doing this process! Hopefully anyone can benefit and not waste 45 mins of their life like I did

The transponder worked no problem once cut, Still couldn't get the central locking to work. Just use the key as a spare and open it from the drivers door lock i guess..

gjkirby wrote:Gday all,
Im new to this forum and wanted to share this with you, not sure if im posting in the correct place so please feel free to point me in the right direction.

I recently purchased an 06 diesel hilux that only came with one key. After a ludicrous quote from Toyota for a spare key with remote, i naturally looked at other options, i found this on ebay:

anyway, I took a chance on it, turns out luck was on my side... it worked!
This is how i programed it, it looks more complicated than it is, and if you follow the instructions i cant see why it wouldn't work for you as well.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To program the remote on the key to the car so you can Lock/Unklock, follow these steps:

Start with the key out of the ignition. Open the driver door (all other
doors are closed). Driver door is unlocked (other doors don’t matter).
1.
Perform these 2. steps within 5 seconds
a. Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) Pull key out
b. Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) Pull key out
3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds
a. Close, then open the drivers door.
b. Close, then open the drivers door.
c. Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) and pull it out.
4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds
a. Close, then open the drivers door.
b. Close, then open the drivers door.
c. Insert the key into the ignition and leave in the ignition.
Close the drivers door
Turn the ignition to ON (as far as you can go without cranking the
engine), then back to off once (this enters add mode)
d.
e. Remove the key from the ignition.

5.
Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock then unlock
automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode.
Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds
Press the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter
simultaneously for 1.5 seconds
a.
Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, press
the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds,
the door locks should lock then unlock once indicating successful
programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps 6
as the remote was not accepted.

7. Open drivers door
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Registration of additional key (adding the key to the ECU so car will start)

1. Ensure doors are closed and no key is inserted in secto the ignition key cylinder.

2. Insert the already registered master key into the ignition key cylinder.

3. Remove and insert the master key 4 times.

4. Open and Close the driver's door 6 times.

5. Remove the master key.

Step 3~5 must be done within 35 sec.

6. Insert the key to be registered into the ignition key cylinder within 10 sec.

7. Leave key in ignition After 60 sec, the key is registered.

I did this method fairly quickly and it worked fine on the second go, i now have three working keys.

Hope this info can save someone some money, not worth the risk owning one key when you can get a working key with remote for $65 delivered.

i followed these steps again this morning as i found a blank in a desk drawer, this definitely works on my 06 kun26.

You can grab the key on ebay, just pop yours open and ensure it is marked B41TA.

Done successfully on a 2014 KUN26 SR hilux. I used an OEM key from Toyota.
I also managed to program the new remote to the car without cutting it by using the 'Master' key to turn the ignition in programming steps.

A BIG THANKYOU to everyone who has helped in this thread! It saved me 200 odd $ that was quoted by toyota

Also managed to do this on a 2010 invincible with the new style flip key and only having the key cut once all programming completed by using master key to turn ignition during programing steps. Now have 1 old style master key and a nice new style flip key.

Wow, What a hectic 1/2 an hour.

I read and re read this thread. had the what I thought was the correct key (dot on shaft) (2005 Extracab)
Bought a key off ebay LinK>> ..http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/191177656233 ... EBIDX%3AIT
This key came with instructions that were a little different to what is on this page..
e.g. instruction 4 c above was opposite to the included instructions.. well as the included instructions were not working I tried the above and it worked.
But only after I also found I had a dicky ignition switch. I found this out by leaving the door open and inserting the original key.. the key/door beeper wasn't beeping. If I gently put side pressure I could get the key/door beeper to beep, so I knew that the key wasn't pushing the little switch in the ignition barrel.
So after that, I carefully did the key in and out parts of the instructions watching the security light.. If you notice the light also goes out if the original key is inserted correctly. So Watching the security light, listening for the key/door beep I went through and did the door remote programming first.
Then the key to ecu second.. If you get that right the security light will go out after about 60 secs. if not the security light will keep flashing.
I will go and cut this new key when I get the chance.

Happy chappy.

In deed it is, just did mine. The ecu bit was easy, getting the door buttons programmed took 8 tries. Slightly dodgy ignition barrel, had to twist the key anti clockwise so the barrel knows the key is in there.

Mine was the opposite crit!
Just did it then. The buttons worked first go.
30mins later I got the key programmed..
for anyone trying this check you have the right chip and be prepared to try Multiple times!
Be patient.
Like crit I think my ignition barrel is slightly worn as well and had to hold the key slightly twisted each time.
