Vibration / Shutter on Take Of

Hey fellas, got those photos

1st shot shows wedge from rear.
2nd self explanitory.
Last, Arrow points to washer used as temporary centre bearing spacer.

Hope the pics work!

Had a ball at LMP, will post some pics soon.
Was raining most of the way there til we turned into the park, the it was dusty tracks for a while.

Started raining, ended up ditching watching the winch challenge & 4B'd the rest of the day.

Damage only to the sidesteps, more reason to get those sliders.

Just a thought, but could it be that the Tail shaft is unbalanced & is causing the vibration.

dan, what is a centre bearing spacer is it like the picture above where he used some washers.
Also where did you get it from

Could be possible that the tail shaft is unbalanced but for it to only happen after suspension upgrade is a bit wierd.

The suspension Bloke reckons the spacer will replace the washers in the photo, but I think it will be thicker to bring it slightly lower.

I don't know where he gets them from but maybe try a different suspension place to arb, couldn't imagine they would cost much for what they are.

Hey Matske when does this klunk happen?
Every now and then I get something happening when i release the brake but before i accellerate.

Kinda hard to explain to toyota and it doesn't happen all the time.
I think its something between the engine and driveline cos it sorta feels like a bump forward, like someone just taps you on the rear end.

Is this "bump" happen at exactly the same time that you move off?? might be that your rear brakes are sticking slightly... or at least the hand brake release mechanism in the rear drums.... Cheers TOMUCH

ARB said they can put the lighter suspension leaves in the rear.
I only have the medium ones in the rear at the moment, does anyone have the light ones, what are they like

Just a point. Had this done in 2005 2 months after new. 2" lify, Medium rear springs, airbags and coopers. Mine is manual not auto. Took it back to ARB Coopers Plains forman went for a drive could not find anything. Said go to Toyota. They said nuthin they could do. Blamed it on ARB,OME. Just one of those things. learned to live with it with plenty of grease.

Tomuch,
sometimes it would happen while still(light on brakes) other times when just taking off.

makes sense what you say though cos i think it stopped we i had it raised.

Lift = no rear brakes.

Hasn't happened again though since i adjusted the load prop. valve.
Anyway glad its gone.(thats the bump not the shudder)

Vibration / Shutter on Take Of

I went to my local Toyota dealership today and spoke to the service manager about the shudder.
He knew about it as soon as I mentioned it, and he said it was also a problem with the previous model - so it is not a new issue.
It is due to the After Market lift (as we had already suspected) different angles; and it does not cause any grave problems long term. That was my main concern as the shudder itself is only slight and not a big issue for me.
He took my truck out back and gave it a quick check over (for free) and said it was all ok.
One thing I will say for Mike Carney is that they look after you. I offered to pay something for thier time but that was not required.
I know of other dealership that will wipe you the first chance they get to blame something non-genuine (such as after market suspension) but I am happy that this dealership does not do that.
So I guess the outcome is that this issue is nothing to be too concerned about.

So I am in a happy place again....

Has any one noticed that the shudder is really bad in reverse? Say if you reverse up the street.

I can just see it now, 100 hilux's all over the country reversing up their street to see if they have the same shudder.

Let me know.

Righto,
Picked up the centre bearing spacer(ended up being a stack of wasers and 2 longer bolts, classy but free).
Fitted them (about 8mm) the other day but its no different, aaargh!
Added a couple more washers but the driveline angle is now past straight(no difference).
I got nuthin' else on this prob.
