Do these tanks sit higher than the original? I have a tray with a slide out drawer which sits above the original tank by only about 10mm. I know the Long Ranger tank will just fit but I would prefer the Poly as it cuts down on the weight factor which is a good thing.

I fitted one of the frontier tanks to my 2012 Hilux a couple of weeks back and so far very happy. Took me a lot longer than 3 hours, but then it was just me on my own, lying on my back under the truck getting sand in my eyes and ripping my hands to shreds on the sharp bits.

One question tho, has anyone run it down to see how much fuel is left? I am now on empty on the gauge (1170 kms later) and by my calculations have about 26 liters left in the tank (Took 143l first fill). I don't believe the sender goes all the way to the bottom of the tank so I would imagine I would run out before all fuel is used. Question is how much...

Also, if it doesn't allow you to use all the fuel, then why does the tank need to hang lower. Surely it would be better if we didn't loose the clearance and it was advertised as 120L?

Still a great tank and a relatively easy fit for someone with basic mechanical skills. Can't wait to test clearance...

I eventually filled up after almost 200km with reserve light on. Tank took 135.5 liters. So 7.5l left. Very happy but proves how far out avg fuel consumption reading is

So can anyone help me with this? Do the tanks sit higher as i would love to buy one ASAP?
Cheers

i have the long ranger in my ute that just got written off and I'm looking at one of these to save weight on the next lux and I also like that it uses straps to that it will move as the ute flexes.

Does anyone know how much they weigh compared to a steel tank and also in my LRA one when you install it you get a 50mm piece of steel that you weld into the fuel guage that's in the tank and it makes the fuel guage go back to normal. anyone know if this is possible to do in the arb tank?

Not sure if the link will work
If not go to YouTube and type in "ARB frontier tank"
It's the video with a military tank as the main pic.

I doubt he Frontier tank would a third of the weight of the long ranger. Also the guage works fine, just reads full for longer. Only thing that changes is the distance to empty no longer works.

I put some pics up earlier in this thread if one fitted to the new lux. The fit is very similar.

Has anyone compared actual weights of the poly tank and the original or LRA tank?
I'm researching a build to tow a 2800kg hybrid camper and weight is a major factor.
Basically, if the excess weight of the tank exceeds the weight of a few jerry cans and straps then it's not worth it for me.

Cheers

I would highly doubt its drastically more.
Your subtracting a tank you can pick up in one hand to fit one slightly bigger you can still pick up with one hand.

Major difference comes with the steel tanks these are a lot heavier.

I don’t know weights exactly but it cannot be a huge difference when you add the weight of 3 1/2 20l jerry cans to get the same carrying capacity. And do you really want 4 extra jerry cans in your tub or tray??? Even on the caravan you gotta consider where your weight is stored.

I have a 2014 Hilux with the original rear locker.
Does anyone know if the tank fits with the original rear locker?
Thank you
