High fuel consumption 2013 Hilux

Postby BigBop on Fri, 21 Jan 2022 11:14 +0000

My Auto 4 speed hilux has really bad fuel consumption, around 390-440 to a tank

Dual cab, 2” lift, alloy tray, alloy canopy, fridge, awning, recovery gear, hilift jack, iron man bull bar maxxis at811 tyres.

Car runs fine, start fine,

ute was tuned 2 years ago by a a well know diesel performance shop in south Brisbane.

I brought the car as it is. A year ago.

I’m wondering if the injectors or scv could be on there way out.

Highway and town driving doesn’t make a difference..

Thanks

I would just take it in and get the lap top hooked up by someone who knows how to properly read it.
Often it is more than just one fault. Can save you time and the headaches

Sounds about right, easy right foot helps a lot... Try getting over 800km, it's possible ;) if you do the math 79litres gives you 790km @10ltr per 100km so you're nearly there, you probably already are if you didn't run it dry ;) there's another 100km in the tank after the light!

Edit: oops better let you know, don't run it dry because it causes lots of problems, but if you remember what fuel you put in to fill it and minus that from 79ltrs you know how much is left in the tank... And the fuel consumption meter isn't too accurate so whenever I fill up I check the actual consumption figure using the math... Litres in divided by kilometers (hundreds) ie 69ltrs in divided by 6.9 (hundreds km). The only other thing is that the fuel pump doesn't always deliver what the gauge says.
