I lowered it so it sits as it always has.

It has lots of droop... which worries me as even with a phat bars diff drop the CVs still bind.
I might be wrong.

My Frontier Long Range Tank arrived today!! :D Big wait due to popularity. Nearly a month. Pity I have to go back to work tomorrow.... :|
Could probably get it done but better to take it easy, make sure I have a 20L jerry can of fuel and I just got home from a massage , so dont want to undo all the good work.
Yesterday was a good day also. Fitted the Ozbush Manual Mapper and blocked off the EGR pipe. Just looking for my best option to run the in cab unit wiring and a good position for the head unit.

Hiluxxury, my dobinsons do the same, I had to get droop limiters. I don’t think the cvs would last very long if the wheels were spinning at full droop :/

Finally after years of ripped of mudflap, shattered short version imports...I got my A$$ into gear and fitted pinned back insertion rubber rear muflaps. Looks OK, this weekend will test if I made 'em right!!

Fitted a nice LOUD Stebel horn and did the "Auto headlights off" trick. All worked well when testing, put everything back together and headlights dont come on... Turns out one of the relay contacts was a bit dodgy, cleaned it up with a points file (bet its been a long time since you used one of those!!) and some contact cleaner. All good again.

G'day all, I want to upgrade my interior lights to LED. Changing out the centre light is fine but can someone please tell me how the map lights are changed?

Does the whole unit pop out of the headliner or is it just the clear covers that pop off?

Any help appreciated.

Spent a couple of hours trying to find the elusive blue trailer brake wire that is meant to terminate under the drivers seat. Epic fail. Couldn't find it. I found a wire that looks like the blue wire from the trailer plug, but it continues into the console. So after peeling off about 10 metres of electrical tape I had to put it all back together.

I'll just run a new wire from the trailer plug.

But I did get the Redarc Towpro Elite control knob and control box installed. It just doesn't do anything yet.

Just the frosted covers come off. Get a flat head screwdriver or knife and they’ll pop right out.

Well my CVs survived the Canning Stock Route, the Simpson and every sand dune and corrugation in between with the excessive droop. I didn't get time to get droop limiters before my trip but its something I am going to look into.

That’s abit more comforting then!
I was very worried when I first put the springs in and spun the wheel at full droop, the clicking and binding was awful and I was just imagining them chewing themselves apart spinning at speed on the first wheel lift!
So much so I parked her in the garage and didn’t drive it until I got the limiters haha.

How was the Simpson? I Would really like to do it in the next couple of years. Any tips or recommendations?

It was great... not too many people this time of the season but enough jokers with trailers for some entertainment in the dunes.

Sand is all about tyre pressure and weight. I was running 15psi cold (285/70 17) and my mate in a Disco D3 was running about 18psi cold (265/60 18) - he dented his rim on the Gunbarrel Hwy so after that ran higher pressures. We had no problems in the sand and both of us cruised up Big Red like it was just another dune... which it is.

How much fuel did you use for the French line.

It's hard to say as I wasn't monitoring use but between Erldunda on the Stuart hwy and Birdsville via Finke, Mt Dare and Dalhousie, I averaged 12.4L/100km. I carry 250ltrs when touring in the outback.

When I have done the Simpson in the past I've used about 15 to 16L/100km in the dunes. The Disco D3 that I travelled with used 20.

Spitfia, I read your post with interest as I have been wanting some better globes. But when I went to the Narva website it states at the bottom of the description that those globes are ‘**Not ADR Approved. Off-road use only’ (Reference: https://www.narva.com.au/blogs/press-re ... led-globes).

Are you able to use them on the road? I assume this is an old article and they have been cleared for use now.

De-hazed the headlights, with Rainex restoration kit-$35 with enough stuff to do half a dozen cars / times. ImageImage
