Are the 2010 hilux handbrakes adjusted using the same procedure as the earlier models.....
I cant even see where the cable runs underneath...is there one.....
I see 2 plastic plugs..on the backing plate....kinda oval shape.....one at the front and one on the top..from what i have read i have to bend a screw driver to do it...
Am i on the right track here..... oh and i do the adjustments with the handbrake off dont i
Cheers

Yeah your on the money, hand brake off and the rear wheels jacked up into the air to to be able to spin to see how much brake drag there is.

Guys,

Stumbled accross this online version of a workshop manual for our trucks.

Anyways seems good for the limmited use I've given it. You guys try it and let me know what u think.

Interestingly, if I'm looking in the right section for "park break adjustment" it says to adjust at the cable and or- underneath the handle (which i never knew about) and doesn't mention adjustment at the wheels themselves.

Here's the link-

Spoke to a mate of mine today...he is a mechanic and drives a workmate hilux....
He rekons to do it like this....
*JAck up the rear and use some stands
*Loosen the handbrake adjuster ..the one under the body on drivers side
*Using a bent screwdriver turn the adjuster all the way in.. wheel will rub if it turns at all
*Using a small Allan Key..push in the little bar that prevents the adjuster going the wrong way and
back the adjuster off about 3 clicks......
* RE-tension the slck out of the handbrake cable to your desired height in the cab.....
Du---Daaa
All done.....
