G'Day all, I have an '07 SR and was looking behind the behind the panel where the aux power socket goes on the SR5 models. It appears to have the wiring and plug there for the power socket just taped up. Was wondering if anyone knows if I get a power socket will it just plug in and work.
Thanks in advance.

KTM,
Put a multi meter on the wire and see if you have 12v when the key is turned on/acc. If yes, then you have your answer.

If there is no power there might pay to check if the fuse is removed also.

Thanks fellas, there is a fuse in there and it has power at the fuse but no power at the plug. I might have to get someone that knows more than me about this stuff to have a look.

Also if you are keen there is a light globe socket in the sr taped to the wiring loom just waiting for a 20c green colour globe and inserting in the top of the ash tray. And when you have the uhf installed under the ash tray with the tray removed you get a great light that lights up the counsel. The globe is certainly worth the extra 8 grand on the sr5 also the wiring for the aux socket is only thick enough for to run a phone charger, wire it direct from the second battery with 6 or 8mm cable for good current flow for inverters and fridges

Time waster is right... The wiring for the "AUX" power socket is very poor. I have completely rewired mine straight from the AUX Battery, It has power all the time and wont flatten the start battery in any case... Make sure you fuse the line as close to the power source as you can to prevent any accidents ... Cheers TOMUCH

Jeff Quinn,

Your a funny buggar I tell you.

The dark side is strong with you.

My tounge still rings from one too many experiments with 9V batteries as a youngster.

Good tips on the Aux socket fellas, I did not realise how poor the wiring was. I'll sort it out when I install my GPS/stereo unit.

Cheers
Matt

I think I just removed the glove box (it just pulls off)and could just reach it. Rewired back to my Aux Battery. It would be very early in my buildup.

which socket ? the power acc socket.. ?? its simple.. you remove the entire plastic cover plate (with demister / cig lighter etc on it), then there is a normal white plastic clip on the back of the power socket.. press it in and pull it off..

is that what you mean ?

here you go.. i just went out and took a couple of photos for you.. to remove the panel (i 'think' thats what you're having trouble with ?)...

Image

so to remove, all i do is turn truck off, then simply take the cig lighter out and stick your thumbs in both sockets and pull back towards you..

and out she comes..

Image

make sure when you're putting it back in that you line the clips up though, ive seen MANY trucks with bent and broken clips..

Hope that helps..

Steve

I have an 05 Sr... I want to add the auxiliary outlet purely for device charging. Does anybody know where to get the auxiliary socket with the correct connection for the plug that is taped behind the dash?
