Is there anyone interested in doing a Vehicle Servicing Course - TAFE NSW – Wetherill Park College

For entry in this course it is desirable to own a 4WD vehicle and have reasonable knowledge of their car or 4WD and some general mechanical skills.

The course is absolutely perfect for someone who wants to take DIY servicing of their own car or 4wd to the next level.

Below the outline of the course that was covered last year
5-Mar-11 Enrolment (introduction) + Use & Maintain Workplace Tooling & Equipment
19-Mar-11 Inspect & Service Cooling Systems
2-Apr-11 Test, Service & Charge Batteries
30-Apr-11 Carry out Repairs to Single Electrical Circuits, NB: continued in May
14-May-11 Continue with Electrical-Electronics + review past lesson
28-May-11 Inspect and Service Engines (Dismantle an Engine)
18-Jun-11 Inspect and Service Transmission (Manual) Inspect & Service Clutch
18-Jun-11 OH&S Workplace Safety
18-Jun-11 Implement & Monitor Environmental Regulations
25-Jun-11 Service Final Drive Assemblies
23-Jul-11 Service Final Drive (Driveline)
6-Aug-11 Extra Catch-up class where I did Inspect and Service Engine
13-Aug-11 Service Petrol Fuels Systems
27-Aug-11 Service Diesel Fuel Injection Systems
3-Sep-11 Inspect and Service Braking Systems
10-Sep-11 Inspect and Service Steering Systems
17-Sep-11 Inspect & Service Suspension Systems
15-Oct-11 Additional class to clean up left over jobs on brakes, Steering & Suspension
22-Oct-11 Inspect & Service Transmissions (Automatic)
29-Oct-11 Carry Out Servicing Operations [log book service]
5-Nov-11 Select & Use Bearings, Seals, Gaskets, Sealant's & Adhesives
12-Nov-11 Apply Basic Trouble Shooting Processes
19-Nov-11 Catch-up class for past modules i.e. Trouble shooting etc.
26-Nov-11 Select Tyres and Rims for Specific Applications (light vehicle)
3-Dec-11 Last day

Last year the following was carried out on one of the students 4WD
- replace brake pads & brake fluid, including correct bleeding of the brakes
- machine brake discs, Trade Discount offered on Brake Parts whilst in the course! I saved a lot here!
- replace the timing belt
- repack wheel bearings
- repack CV joints
- replace exhaust manifold gaskets & studs in cylinder head
- flush the Cooling System including the Heater Core
- replace suspension bushes (on the rear leaf springs)
- and lots of other things (like bush welding and bush repairs like a Bush Radiator Fix)
Dates to be allocated late January to early February 2013.
First Saturday: Mid to late February 2013
Time Saturday 8.00AM to 4.30PM

Toyota room Block CP Light Vehicles Workshop
TAFE NSW – Wetherill Park College
The Horsley Drive
Wetherill Park NSW 2164

Costing information: $506.00 plus $300.00 workshop consumables.

Duration: 176 hours (Plus pre-reading of TAFE online presentations)

Maximum number of students: 12

For safety & OH&S reasons participants are required to wear:
• Overalls or
• Work trousers & shirt.
• Steel capped boots.

Would love to do this to learn im doing things correctly and i think work would fund me for it but the distance it to much :(

X2 if it was at my local Tafe I'd b down for sure! Sounds like a good course!

I did the course back in 2010, (Sacraficed rugby for this course :( )
Terry is a top bloke and teacher... also a Toyota Trainer and a LandCruiser 80ser driver.
Highly recommend the course.
