Untill today. pushed a piece of hose on, stuck it into a container and reached into to turn the valve.. after 5 or 6 times trying to turn the valve... still no luck. so i dropped the bash plate to find ive crumpled the bottom sectiom of the vale along the guide for the tap.. i have no idea how this could of happpened other than the motor pushing down hard on the mounts and the valve hitting the crossmember..

So apart from this one case. Has anyone had any issues with these valves fitted?
No ones smashed them off or had them leak? I'm going to order one tonight! :)

nah..never had a problem with mine.. they sit up behind the sump so are protected anyway.. but if you have underbody guards on then there is no way for damage.

i beleive the motors moved downwards on the mounts and the fumoto valves hit the crossmember. thats the only thing i think could've happened because i had a buds bash plate on

it'd have to move a LONG way to do that..

Never had a problem with mine.. always worked perfectly..

Had the same thing happen to mine when I broke an engine mount. I don't know if it happenedvthen or when the mechanic was fitting the new mount but found it when I did the next oil change. The fumoto was crushed and I couldn't open the valve. There wasn't any leakage, just ordered a new one and it was all good. But that was on the old lux. I have a new lux now so Toyota do the messy business fir me. When the warranty runs out I'll get a fumoto valve for this one. :D

I have one with the nipple, went to torque it up to 25nm as recommended by fumoto and it tore the thread off the valve.

However they are sending me a replacement.

Got one with the "male" extension, works great but have to make sure you use right size hose, or takes forever to drain via a 5mm hole!!

Just installed mine a few days ago, also with the male end. What size host does it need?
Shucks because you wanna test it out but you've just done an oil change installing it!

I was talking to my uncle about the fumoto valve a few weeks ago and he reckons they're a bad idea because then you lose the little magnet that's on the end of the sump plug bolt. What do you guys reckon?

No magnet in the sump plug as far as I know, only other plugs with magnets are the diff, transfer and auto-trans drain plugs. Might defeat the purpose, but it's still a good idea to remove the valve and check the sump screen every now and then.

These are awesome for cleaning the sump screen too. Just make sure you use the square part (main body) of the valve body to tighten up or remove the valve for inspection. The hex on valves with nipples are not for installing or removing the valve body - the hex is just for the nipple.

How do you clean the sump screen? I thought you would have to remove the sump.

I got mine with the male end and have a length of hose attached. Takes a long time to drain but i just do it at the end of the day and leave it overnight. Still saves taking off 2 bashplates and gettin oil on me face..

Have a read of this thread Adam - takes a lot of extra time and/or $$ to remove the sump

Jake - I do an oil change immediately after taking the car for a spin to bring it up to operational temperature - undo the oil filler cap, connect a 3/8" fuel hose and flick the valve. The hot oil flows out like water - done in 30 - 40minutes.

^ that's exactly how I do mine, by the time it's drained so has the oil filter which makes a nice easier change. The next best thing to the fumoto valve was getting the genuine oil filter remover tool! Priceless when you have with a broken wrist.

Yeah good thinking with the hot oil flowing out better. Cheers. :)
