Are you meant to check your pick up every time you do an oil change?

Mitch I was more shit stirring with my comment. As Max said just remove the Fumoto I would think it reasonable to check the pickup every 20,000 k ???? No big deal to do.

Are you supposed to empty the oil first? I just removed the Fumoto to have a look and got oil in my eye. It's OK though coz I sprayed degreaser in my eye and it's better now . . . .

    maybe to stop that happening again you could set up a Go Pro camera in your sump and monitor your pickup from in the cab

Yes!!! Great idea, I'll take the Go Pro camera out of my shower and put it in the sump. I've only been monitoring my stamina for a pick up anyway.

Hey Alby,

Sorry mate, I was having a Snooz!

Fumoto & D4D ? if it makes it harder to check your oil pickup screen, then I would leave it for the petrol heads!

Re your bash plate, maybe get the hole saw out, that way you can still get a look in but still have some protection.

Certainly looks good, but what's the odds of it not getting snapped off or damaged so that it won't open/close properly?

It looks like mud could foul the mechanism as well.

But the idea certainly has a lot of merit for all the reasons mentioned above, especially for someone like me who always wants the oil filled to the exact upper level then overfills it...

I have the TJM plates on mine and it hardly even gets dirty. I was a bit worried about the tap undoing but no dramas as yet after 4 oil changes.

Has anyone thought about using these on other points like the front diff if it is possible. It is a pain to get to the filler point I'm thinking running one of these with a hose up to the engine bay and fill it from that.
Also would be able to drain the front diff without removing bash plate.
I know it's not an oil you change every service but after doing mine a few weeks back I will be doing it more oftern than not.

ive loved my fumoto valve.. ive done many clean oil changes with ease...

Untill today. pushed a piece of hose on, stuck it into a container and reached into to turn the valve.. after 5 or 6 times trying to turn the valve... still no luck. so i dropped the bash plate to find ive crumpled the bottom sectiom of the vale along the guide for the tap.. i have no idea how this could of happpened other than the motor pushing down hard on the mounts and the valve hitting the crossmember..
