Attention light

Attention light

Postby benjamin.wright8 on Fri, 02 Sep 2011 7:14 +0000

I have a 2004 Hilux, 3ltr diesel NA. Recently the attention light (same as the handbrake) is coming up while im driving, mainly when I'm going up through the gears and sometimes under engine brake. My car has just come up to 150 000 kms
I was just looking for possibilities of what it could be, the handbrake is definatly all the way off.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

It's not the timing belt light, is it?

No not the timing belt light, that did come up at 150000 though.
I've had that done, and put on a new alternator and vac pump which didnt have any affect on the attention light.

Are you low on brake fluid? The handbrake light in my prado is also the brake level indicator.

Mate i bet you the little switch that turns that light on and off under the handbrake itself is sticky. Pull some trimming off and make sure that wen your handbrake is off the switch extends to its full capacity (either all the way out or all the way in) depending on how its switched. Im guessing all the way out.

I have the same year Lux and I have the same problem. It's the switch wearing out. Mine will turn off if I put a little pressure on the handle.
