noisy injector pump after cylinder head change

Postby mako13013 on Thu, 30 Apr 2020 8:04 +0000

Hi all, new to this site and hoping you guys can shed some light on a problem I have with my 06 Hilux 1KD-FTV. i recently changed the cylinder head and ever since the injector pump has been noisy however the noise disappeared at about 1800rpm. just recently though I am getting injector rattle when I back off. I have replaced the SCV however I haven't done a relearn yet. cant seem to find any instances of intermittent noisy pump though. any insight would be much appreciated as I'm in the bush and its a long way to diesel specialist

Did you fit a new head with new or your old injectors?
Or did you just bolt a second hand head on complete with its injectors?

Why did you change the head in the first place? This is the first time I have heard of a head replacement on a 1kd?

Yeah the head replacement was a bit unusual for a 1kd but I was towing a trailer and the engine light came on so I stopped straight away, result was a split tank on the radiator and the head was leaking from the combustion chamber to the water jacket on cylinder three. I put a new head on using the original injectors ( these had been fitted new at 200,000 and tested fine. one problem though was when the fuel rail came off the wires got pulled out the plug on the pressure regulating valve. I repaired this as Toyota denied the little harness existed. The car has been running fine all be it with the pump a bit noisy but recently has come up with injector knock when when backing off and now also when accelerating. Baileys Diesel say if the pressure regulating valve uis crook it will come up with a code but I have no codes present. I just checked the injectors and they all tested 1.0 ohms. Going to do a pilot value relearn on the new SCV today and see what happens. Also checking for a suction air leak from tank to filter just in case
