Removing fuel pressure regulator - advise needed

G'day

Just a quick one. Am replacing injectors on my 2002 4x4 rzn149r hilux. I have some experience fiddling with engines but am fairly new to 4x4s.

So I have emptied the fuel system and disconnected battery. Have removed the throttle body and am in the process of removing the fuel rail. This thing which I assume is the fuel pressure regulator will need to come off and it seems that to do that I need to loosen the bolt shown. However it's proving to be a PITA and wont come undone.

Photo (hope this works):

Just wanted to check that this is completely necessary to remove the fuel rail and the correct method of removing the fuel pressure reg. Are there any tricks to getting this undone or am just not twisting hard enough?Feels like I might break something before I get the thing undone.

Thanks in advance..

its a left hand thread. so make sure you are undoing it the correct way ( not the normal way)

Thanks for that, I was trying to turn it the wrong way.

Now I have managed to turn it about 1/2 a turn, making that bolt cracking sound the whole way. I am now starting to strip it though so taking a break. Looks like this'll be another one of those days spent trying to undo one bolt.

Shit so I was right originally turning it counter-clockwise and now I've tightened it half a turn...

I had to re-install the throttle body as it's my daily, I will give it another go this w/e with a better spanner. At least the small amount of thread I stripped is in the tightening direction and so now I should be able to get a decent grip :D

Thanks guys.

after playing with mine for a while mine is left and thread...mind you i got my car from dodgy bro's so i would not be supprised if they have done something to mine.

as for the other posts yes should be right hand thread ( not sure why they have left hand thread markings on them). its amazing what happens when you compair your car with the other 5 hiluxs in the street.
