TRouble starting a '99 5L Hilux

Postby Hairytoplip on Sat, 23 Mar 2013 5:59 +0000

Hi There all,

need a little help and can't find a solution anywhere on the forums- I have a '99 LN167 3Litre Diesel Lux with 285k's. Thing has always been serviced and runs like a dream. Only problem is lately it has taken more than the usual half a crank to fire. The other morning it wouldn't start at all. I primed the lift pump and it started and ran beautifully. If I leave it overnight the same problem occurs. Have changed the fuel filter (no water or crud in it) and makes no difference. Any ideas?

Cheers for any help here.....Richie

Yep all is good- glow plugs it was. All four were buggered on resistance test. Much better, but Still not perfect with four new ones, but will go genuine and see if that sorts it.

I have a 2005 Hilux petrol. Around town the temperture runs at half, on the open road at 100kmph the temp is the same. When I stop at roadworks stop sign and wait for some 4-5 minutes the temp goes to nealy to max. When I start driving again to 100kmph the temp drops back to half way.
Around town stop and start all the time the temp stays at half.
Can any person help?
