Flat spot and hard start

Flat spot and hard start

Postby gedsar on Wed, 14 Sep 2011 6:15 +0000

Hey guys I had a drama with my sub tank on my 07 d4d hilux. The landcruiser changeover valve I used got stuck half open and it was sucking a little bit of air and surging for about twenty km until I got back to camp and cleaned the valve out. Now first thing in the morning or when it's left stopped for more than about 15mins it winds over about twice as long as it used to, it also has a bit of a flat spot mainly in 2nd gear backing off at a corner then accelerating hard it feels exactly like you lift your foot for a split second as it gos past 2000 rpm. Any ideas on what it has done

sounds like you have a leak in the fuel line/system somewhere

yeah i know its like the fuel is draining back, just wondering if there is a check valve or a lift pump etc. It sound like there is a pump running when you turn the key on

there is no lift pump, the mechanical high pressure pump draws the fuel out of the tank, therefor if you get an air leak it will be hard for the pump to draw the fuel back up
