Body Lift and 6 stud conversion

Body Lift and 6 stud conversion

Postby Emong3 on Tue, 11 Jan 2011 3:30 +0000

hello!

I have a 1995 hilux 4x2 and I want it to be lifted to look like a 4x4.
I already tweeked the torsion bar and got around 2 inches. But my 275/75R16 tires would not clear the body.

Now planning to do a body lift. Would it be fine if I use rubber bushings to lift the body? Or should I go fabricate metal spacers? Are the aftermarket lift kits made of rubber or metal?

another question, is there a wheel spacer that converts the 5 studs into 6 studs? The rims and tires will be coming from a patrol GQ. Rims got 6 holes and my hilux has 5 only. Would like to know if I can just buy a spacer or i'll end up in a machine shop for a restud.

Thanks!

Emong.
Just a maybe as all 2wd hiluxs that I have seen run 5 hole Ford pattern rims.
The std 6 hole pattern now is a 5.5inch 6 hole PCD.
The metric equivelent of that is....
139.7mm X 6 hole PCD
and the wheel nuts are M12 X 1.5..
Cheers

Rims are cheaper than stud pattern adapters and don't necessarily increase your positive offset or unsprung weight.

You can either run a 16x8 for those 32" tyres you mention or a 15x8 for cheaper 15" tyres like 31x10.5.

rims and tires are already available from my patrol GQ. Just got 33" on the patrol so the old a/t tires and rims were just sitting in the garage.
