4" Snakeracing lift kit or long travel kit

4" Snakeracing lift kit or long travel kit

Postby pipert on Mon, 04 May 2015 12:08 +0000

Just wondering if anyone is running the 4" Snakeracing lift kit on their Pre 04 IFS Hilux and what their flex is like?

The other kit from the US that I came across is this one - https://www.wildwestoffroad.com/catalog ... od_33.html

It looks promising at increasing the travel distance in the front end if you run it with longer/extended shocks.

I've been looking at options for lifting mine. I have opted for a 2" suspension and 2" body for a couple of reasons.

-When the ifs is lifted it increases clearance under the front diff etc, the snake one does not as suspension at factory angles
- Snake kit will not be engineered in QLD where I am, may pay to check your state?
-For the cost of the snake kit installed, you can get a 2" suspension and body lift and a set of lockers and end up with a more capable truck. I figure a bit less flex with lockers will be more capable and a bit cheaper long term, and still be fully legal in my state.

Thanks for the feedback bigfut. I already have a 2" suspension lift and 2" body lift which clears the 33's fine. I'll take your advice and stick with this combo as it seems fine and practical. Do you have your torsion bars slightly wound up?

PS. I also have a rear ARB air locker which makes a huge difference getting over a lot of harder obstacles even with the lack of flex

Hi again,

replaced the torsion bars, which heavier duty EFS torsion bars, which are wound up to match the 2" lift on the springs in the rear. Looking at a locker for the front when funds permit!

A body lift shouldn't hurt at all providing that the body block material is good quality and the body mount bolts are done up tight. It might be best to invest in new high tensile bolts too just in case the old ones are knackered.

I've had no issues with my 2" body lift and I've been wheeling it offroad for months since I got it put in.
