Torsion bar wind up

Torsion bar wind up

Postby darbio on Mon, 09 Feb 2015 2:05 +0000

Hi guys,

I'm buying a '98 Hilux which has been raised by winding up the torsion bars.

Can this cause any damage to the vehicle? And what should I be aware of when looking after the truck and it's suspension?

Thanks,

D

Winding up the torsion bar will just give you less down travel and have your cv at steeper angles resulting in increase chance of failure under loads.

Thanks. I had a look underneath and couldn't quite see which bits have been wound up. I'll have a look over the weekend when it's lighter!

It's just a large bolt each side down near the transfer case.
