Any problems with the nose being too high?

Postby rileybrooks11 on Thu, 18 Sep 2014 6:13 +0000

Hi guys just lifted the front of the lux 3 inches and the rear is stock and it's riding really nose high, is there any problems with this and will extended shacked fix the problem? Thank you.

just looks aweful. you would need to lift the back end 2 inches to level it, you won't do that safely with shackles. either change the front to a 1" lift or lift the back end 2"" to match. only thing here is that eventually rear springs will sag from putting loads in the rear and the rear end will sag again. if you leave it stock and put a load in the tray It will sit level when loaded. as the springs in the rear sag a bit over time it will also level itself. absolutely your choice what you do mate, it's your truck. cheers

Oncoming traffic won't like you too much either
I went 2" in the front and 1" in the back, It sits level but had trouble getting the heal lights down enough

Plenty of posts on this topic - search is your friend bud but in summary:
By raising the front only you change the geometry, rake, handling, steering and braking ability of the rig
Ultimate Suspension says its illegal to raise the front only (have a read on their threads)
Insurance wont touch you if you are involved in an accident

If you raise the front 3" then raise the rear 3" -
This way your approach AND departure angle is increased, when you put a load in the back it wont look like a dog wiping its arse on the ground, the rig will be legal, handling will be safer and less likely to cause an accident.
You may need an engineering cert over 2" lift with or without larger tyres regardless
Check your insurance policy

Laws at current in most states (most not all)
50mm max lift and 50mm mx tyre increase with a total max height change of 75mm (50mm lift + 50mm tyre= 75mm total)
You can't not engineer bigger then 50mm increase on tyre, but can engineer upto 125mm of total height increase

Now on the other hand most 3" lift kits are the same part number as a 2" loaded kit ie steel bar and twin batt
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

If you drive too fast it could reach a critical point of lift... sort of like an airplane

I'd say on long trips, aerodynamics on the highway to drop your KM/per tank a decent bit...
