Aftermarket torsion bars and winding them up

I'm interested in winding up the torsion bars on my 2000 IFS LN167 Hilux in order to raise the front end so it is in-line with the rear. Would putting in aftermarket Dobinson (http://www.superiorengineering.com.au/p ... ts_id=8118) torsion bars be ideal?

Depends on the weight of your accessories. If you have dual batteries and a winch etc, yes it would. If not, personally I'd just wind them up until you have a few mm's gap from the upper bump stop.

I don't have a bullbar and dual batteries so the front end should be light in terms of weight. I've heard that after 12 months, the stock torsion bars can sag so it is recommended to upgrade to aftermarket ones. Do you know anyone running the stock ones wound up fine over a period of time? Cheers

I have back in the day no dramas. That was an alloy bullbar and nothing else. Even if they sag after a couple of years you've lost nothing anyway. It also depends on how you treat them too. If you have no winch, personally I would and match them to a good pair of shocks.

Ended up going with dobinson torsion bars. They've made my ride so much better and I have got a bit more clearance on the front now.
