Please Help 97 SAF Hilux

My son lives in Queensland and just purchased a 1997 Dual Cab with SAF. The vehicle has 285/75/16 fitted to mickey thompson classic lock rims and I have no idea of the Off Set. He was also told that it has a 2" lift kit but when he drives the car he is say that the rear of the front tires hit the leaf spring on full lock, he is also saying that it hits the guard so id the tyre was hanging out more it would make it worst.
So the real question is can you fit 33" (285/75/16) on a 1997 Hilux SFA with leaf springs and if so what needs to be done. My son has only just move from Vic to Qld so its very hard for me to help him out but as he is not that far from Rainbow Beach/ Fraser Island and Moreton Island Ect Ect he wants to get it sorted.

33s with a 2 inch lift only is pushing it. He has a few options, 1. fit a front diff relocation kit to bring the diff forward and also a wider offset rim. 2. Fit a body lift 1-2 inch and wider offset rims. 3. Run smaller tyres 265/75
