Rancho RS9000XL shocks - part number please

Postby hatvani on Tue, 08 Jan 2013 5:06 +0000

Guys,
I live in Africa driving a 2002 Hilux 2.5TD (UK model Mk5) with 4" suspension lift on size 32 tires. The car had a ProComp lift done professionally done in the UK before importing it to Tanzania. Now one of the rear shocks is leaking and need to change.
I've been researching Rancho shocks and I think I'm pretty much decided after reading through the forum. There is no dealer here, but I can mail order it from Europe or US. Problem is that the Hilux was never imported to the US so they don't know the part number.
Can someone help me out with the proper part number for the RS9000XL shocks for my truck with the 4" lift? So far I found RS999112 as possibility, but I want to make sure it will fit before I order it from overseas.

Cheers.

Definitely at the right place mate for help.
Tanzania would be an awesome place to have a Hilux. Stayed at a few places there myself.

Cheers Wazza,

Tanzania is really a cool place for a rig like that. I go on safaris quite often but the corrugated dirt roads are a bitch. Even paved roads have a ton of potholes and speed bumps. My setup is on the heavier side with bullbar up front, roof rack tent and rear tire carrier bumper with a 6th spare and jack in the back. Size 32 Cooper STT tires are heavy.

I found the same part numbers on the Rancho AU site, but their email doesn't seem to work. I just want to make sure that it will accommodate the 4" lift and the 9.7" travel of the shock will be sufficient. Also on the mounting brackets the site indicates type L1. Not sure what that means.

Might have to give them a quick call tomorrow to double check.

I myself have stayed at Arusha, Zanzibar and from there travelled down to Chimala before going to lake Malawi.

Good Luck
