i just replaced the sway bar link bushes on my lux thinking it would get rid of this rattling noise i have coming from the drivers side front wheel when i go over bumps, didnt fix it but then i noticed my bottom shock bush is pretty worn and allowing the shock to move, ive checked the superpro website, ebay and a few other websites and cant seem to find any aftermarket shock mount bushes, will i just have to buy new shocks or is there somewhere i can source some from?

What brand of shock?

Superpro do manufacture them (SPF3591K). They retail for $104 but we supply them for $80. for newhilux.net members. They do need to be pressed in which is difficult without the right equipment.

hi brendan, they look like the bushes for the post 05 hilux struts, mines a torsion bar front.

i just been to opposite lock who rang tough dog who's response was, thats highly unlikely and there must be something wrong elsewhere which has caused the bush to wear ....anyway, might work this angle to the boss to try and get a lift kit in

Superpro do manufacture the bushes but they make them for another company under their part number. That is why it's not listed on their website. They are $33 each side.

Is that just the bottom bush Brendan or is it top an bottom of the shock? Also do the torsion bars have a lifespan? Mine isn't lifted although I presume the rear has constant load leaves installed as it sits roughly 1" higher than the front, and my front lower control arms are almost horizontal...the bloke at tough dog said that something to do with the torsion bars may have had something to do with this bush flogging out, I would just see it as a consumable item am I right?

That price is only for the bottom bushes. The top ones are $15 for both sides. The bottom ones are pretty expensive because they are not a common bush to replace. We don't see many of these chewed out and most of the wear is from old age. Premature wear is normally because of incorrect fitting (e.g. tightened up in the air). How many kms are on the shocks? It may be worthwhile upgrading them at the same time. New shocks would only cost you about $250 for both sides.

As with a lot of things, genuine components aren't the best parts. After market torsion bars make a significant difference to the handling of the vehicle but I think it's hard to say the originals will cause bush failure.

i took the shock out last night (at work of course ) and found out the cause of the bush wearing was the bolt had become loose by about 1/8th of a turn. im not sure how old the shocks are they were on the lux when i bought it but they did feel pretty good

Yeah a loose bolt will wear them pretty quick. If the shocks feel good, changing the bush kit is all you need to do
