Are you planning on adding other accessories like a bar, winch, dual battery, biggertyres/ lift down the track? As this will influence your shock/ spring choice and it is better not to have to spend more $$$$ changing again latter.

When you say it rides rough is it the front or rear that you find harsh? You can stick a bag of sand or drum of water etc in the back to see if that helps, that way you will have a better idea whether your issue is the front or back to start with.
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

yeh mate got a bullbar, dual batteries, decent tyres, lift already done, will get a winch later down the track, and a long range tank, might have to do the sand bag trick, i havent had it under a great deal of load as its just been used as a town car lately, yeh will wait untill i load it up with camping gear, and see what happens....cheers mate

G'day mate, and welcome to the site! Who installed the lift kit for you, and do you have any idea what springs were used, especially in the rear? I've noticed that a lot of people seem to get talked into the Heavy Duty leaves by installers, perhaps so the customer doesn't come back down the track complaining of sagged springs? If you still have the invoice or something similar, have a look at what they put in, could be your problem right there.

G'day mrmouse, glad you made it over. ;)

Personally I have 300kg+ springs in the rear. They are harsh when the tub is empty but ride beautifully when loaded up. I decided a while ago to take one of the leafs out of the spring pack to make the ride more comfortable. This instantly lower the rear end and made it more comfortable but after doing several camping trips, fully loaded and also my regular household firewood collection duties up in the mountains the springs just can't handle the load. This weekend I am going to put the leaf back in so I can properly carry a heavy load again. Unfortunately it's a compromise between load carry capabilities and comfort.

hey maddog yeh mate made it and lais, yeh lais i brought it xmas time last year everything was on it that i mentioned earlier, our work hilux's all have OME shockies and the ride very well compared to mine, i might have to hit the fitters up and find out what they did to them, mind you they are mostly all brand new models, was just comparing the difference between them, yeh lais will get someone to have a look at them for me as i only know the basics in mechanics. i understand that with a load in the tray utes ride alot better, maybe im just being a lil fussy too....but yeh wanna look into it first and than make my mind up thanks fella again for the info

No worries mate, any time. Do you happen to know how many leaves are in the pack, and how many flat and curved leaves? Might help to deduce what you have?
