Have a 2" OME lift want to increase to 3" lift

Hi fellow hilux fellars,

Straight forward question which I can't seem to find an answer on.

I have a 2" Lift using OME suspension but now would like a 3" over all. My suspension is about a year old now and is working great so I don't want to waste it and buy a new kit. So my question is can I just get new springs only or even use a spacer (have heard bad things about suspension spacers) or will I have to face the bad news of needing entire new system.
I'm doing this to fit 32" mud tyres and would like the extra 50mm clearance from the tyre lift combo ( currently running AT 31").

Pretty sure you can run 32's with a 2" lift, my local ARB bloke runs 265/75-16's (think they're 32") muddies on his lux with a OME 2" lift..... No probs

Have a 2" OME lift want to increase to 3" lift

I have 265/70 17's (32'') on mine with a 2inch OME and there is slight rubbing occasionally on the front bumper. The guys from the tire shop and ARB have told me to cut a section out with an angle grinder. But I figured I was going to get a bullbar eventually so I may aswell order one now, which should eliminate all rubbing. But I have heard of some cars with 2'' lift running 32's fine.

I think your thinking about strut spacers which yes are very dangerous, but spring packers/spacers are very commonly used. Ive got them on my truck. Ive swapped out the original ome springs for some thicker (ie higher spring rate) king springs to stop sagging and ive got two 5mm spring spacers under each spring which give me about another inch of lift overall. Have a look at my build or my shed which the links are for in my sig below.

Hi there,

Here in Indonesia all toyota fortuner (it has the same front end as hilux) come from factory with 265/70/16 which is 31, something". However, most people here replace it with 265/75/16 which is 32" because it is cheaper and easy to get . And i am sure that most of them running stock suspension.

So, i am sure u'll be ok with 32 inch

Cheers

265/75 16s will run fine on a 2 inch lift provided your offset isnt rediculous. Ive run them on mine no problem that was with a -40 offset and now a -1 offset on 16 x 8 rims.
