G'day guys,

A friend of mine has just bought himself a VERY clean 1985 Luxie and by the look of it, its not riding on standard suspension. Looks like theres a small lift already in it.
He wants to know whats the biggest rim / tyre combination for off road driving that he can get?

Keeping the same lift (what size is it) or going bigger? Will he consider a body lift?

He's only just turned 18 and started his apprenticeship so doenst have that much money to throw around. He just wanted to know whats the biggest rim tyre combo he can put on with out having to spend too much money. From looking at it I would say theres probly a 2" suspension lift already on the car

Mate as a rough guide he could go with the below options:

31/10.5x15 - will fit on a 7" rim - with 2" lift should fit easy
32/11.5x15 - will fit on 8" rim - with 2" lift should fit easy
33/12.5x15 - will fit on 8" rim - with 2" lift might go but you will have to check it out

You might even be able to go bigger, but if only 18 and a P-plater I would not as it will be cop bait as it is

Just my 2c

We have 31's on our old 84 hilux with no lift at all and there is a mountain of room for bigger tyres so with a lift im guessing 33's wouldnt be a problem. Do a search on google, im sure there would have been a mountain of people who have messed around with this.

i ran 35x12.5x15" BFG AT on 15x10 roh steal wheels for street
and 38x13.5x15" maxxi creepy crawler for bush on roh 15x10 steal wheels

I had a 2" body lift and 4" 3t spring lift (=6" of lift) so 8" total lift

The body lift is cheep and easy, about $150 will cover it, if you fit yourself.
You can also fit "lowering block" to the diff/springs witch will raise it also for about $150 (front and rear)

Shackle lift and cab lift are the cheapest and easiest options to fit big rubber under these ol girls. Both work a treat.
