Daniel,

I have the OME 2" lift, had BFG's in 265/70/16 and had no problems with any rubbing at all, about a month ago I fitted the Coopers ST Maxx in 265/75R/16, I've had to take the front mud flaps off, trimmed the inner plastic guard and if I go over a bump mostly happens turning to the left, I still get it rubbing.
It does however depend on what you have on the front of your vehicle, I have the ARB bar, winch, lights and dual battery, so have a bit of weight up front. I am actally thinking of installing a 20-25mm front coil spacer as well, but haven't decided as yet, will do a bit more research on that one.

Forgot to add, it also depends if you have changed the wheels as the offset also makes a difference, mine are -11mm, factory I think are +20mm so this doesn't help my cause.

Cheers

John

2" body lift is the cheapest and easiest option. I've got 285/75/16 without any suspension lift on a 2003 model. barely scrubs though you have to hack the front mud flap a lot and hammer back the sill.

LUX666: being a 2004 (pre 2005) its a different model to yours.

Cheers thanks for your help guys! just wondering in general after reading up some of the rubbing posts on here. I got a bit of weight as well Lux bullbar, lights, winch, duelbats, after market bash plates. I guess i can just fit them and just deal with the problems once they are on and i see how severe the rubbing will be if it will.

Make sure you get a guarantee from the installer that if it sags below the 2" lift that they should fix it...

Or get an adjustable coilover setup, so you can adjust the seat up to accommodate sag if it occurs.

I've been told by Climax Suspension that a 2" lift on a hilux should accommodate 32x11.5's comfortably.

Ive got 04 sr5 with 2" OME lift, put some 265/75/16 last week on 0 offset rim, haven't noticed any scrubbing on the road, off road looks like they get pretty close around the mud flaps when your on some angles but don't think its anything to worry about.

you guys should really take into consideration that its a torsion bar front end, not a coilover setup.

2" body lift should be good as at full compression, the wheels will actually be 2" lower relative to the body where as a suspension lift, you will still get full compression at the same spot as without a lift.

also with a body lift, when you do add on the extra stuff and the front end dips, you can just wind the torsion bars to accommodate for the sag. If you went with a 2" suspension lift and it started to sag, you can only wind the torsion bars up so much that it'll most likely end up in a harsh ride and pretty much no suspension movement at all.

I have also heard a 2" suspension lift will fit 32's but I cannot confirm if it scrubs or not offroad. judging by my tyres, 285/75/16 (33's) you should be able to fit 32's and maybe remove the front mud flaps (if its an SR5 model). my problem is that they just scrub on the flares and I've managed to keep the front mud flaps. running 16x8 0 offset.

personally a 2" body lift would be easier and cheaper and possibly less harshness on the ride. if you have driven a hilux with the torsion bars winded out heaps, you'll find the front just bounces on every small bump.

look around more and do more research. this is just my input on it

My older brother has 32" bf muddies on his extra cab its a 2002 model from memory. He has upgraded the torsion bars and coupled that with rancho adjustable shocks. This really levels out the harshness of the wound up torsion bars. Im not sure of the rim offset but with a good wheel alignment they dont scrub.

i'm considering getting a 2" lift and upsizing my 31s to 33s. That's obviously an extra 4" in height. Does anyone with a 2" lift have trouble getting into underground car parks?
also, can you go from 31s to 32s without a lift??

I haven't been able to fit under most underground car parks since even before I got my lift installed (thanks in part to rear racks and UHF aerial)

Going from 31's to 33's would should only add an extra 1" in lift, as the tyres are only 2" taller in diameter.

I found the only scrubbing issue was with the front mud flaps running 265/75/16s and at the time I was only running OME front lift (which only gave me slightly more than 1" of lift).

^^ ah ok. it makes sense to me now. i reckon even with a lift and 33s, I'll still be able to get into most car parks.

thanks for the advice. another question though. i've got 31x10.5xR15s on my 15" rims at the moment. can i put 33x12.5xR15s on them? is the width an issue here or will they fit?

Depends how wide the rim is. It's illegal on a 7" rim but 8"+ is alright. That bein said helmet ran a 12.5" tyre on a 7" rim I'm pretty sure

Edit: info based on wrong model.

On an 04 I have heard that 33's fit a lot easier then the current shape.
