oil pressure

Postby clarkz on Tue, 17 May 2011 2:13 +0000

hey guys, just got my hilux, its a 92 2.8l diesel thats been turbo'd. Now when i first got it the oil pressure (has aftermarket gauge) went to 40 psi at idle and under acceleration, the maz would be around 60 psi, now i have noticed its going down to about 20-25 psi at idle (warmed up) and can go between 70-80 psi (when cold) but once warmed up goes to about 65 psi.

can anyone help me out and tell me this is normal or not? dont want the car stuffing up on me just after buying it!

Cheers guys, jesse.

hi Jesse,
I am wondering the same thing i just did an sr5 cluster swap (for the oil pressure & volt gauges) but found even with the new oil pressure sender i put on, i had a reading of just above the L at idol & 1/4 at 3000rpm ( so i got a little worried :? ) so then i swapped the sensor with no difference to the readings! Next i borrowed a mechanical gauge from my mechanic and found the exact opposite....... inital start (cold) 40psi @ idol & 85psi @ 3000rpm. Then warm 32psi at idol & 60psi @ 3000rpm. have you had any luck finding out if this is normal?
Cheers Nathan
