1988 jaming in netural

Has anyone had any experance with 1988 5 speed 4x4 diesel gearbag getting stuck in netural ? After a short tow ( 100mtrs ) she came free. it has done it before and came free after some stuffing around with the lever. The box has high kms, is a little noisy and dosnt mesh into gears well.

Gday mate. I've got a 91 2.8 and I've just started experiencing the same problem. I have had to pull over a few times, turn the car off then put it in gear and away i go again. i had hoped that maybe it was just low on gearbox oil, but having dropped the oil this arvo there was plenty in there. I'm having a look tonight for a fix for this. Have you found anything in the mean time since you posted?

its old and worn...probly distorted shift fork or your clutch isnt engaging properly..synchro...lots of things it could be
