2002 Hilux Engine Mounts

Hey guys I am a new member. I have searched the sight for info but can't find anything. Our 2002 Lux has had a horrible vibration on the highway for ages and the mirrors and the whole car shakes! All the mechanics reckon wheels or drivetrain but we have new wheels and tyres, new front and rear suspension and other bits fixed but still the same! I think it is the engine mounts but two mechanics have looked at them and reckon they are not that bad. I have put the bonnet up and pulled the handbrake on hard, started it and let the clutch most of the way out in reverse on and off and the motor seriously lerches. Also the whole gear shifter and transfer shifter move dramatically as you go on and off the accellerator driving it on the road.

Do you guys have any tips on how to check if your engine mounts are ok? Or any other suggestions on what it might be.
