And I wasnt even giving it a hard time! It was on the bitumen coming through the city late sunday afternoon.
I had been up at Echuca to stay with the folks the weekend, and we took the kayaks up as well for a paddle.
I had it in 4wd to get down to the river as the track was a little slippery. When back on the black stuff again, I noticed a bit of a wobble a the front end, but thought it might of been all the mud flying off, as it was muddy in the area!
Then coming through the city, the front of the car was shaking for a bit, then it was fine again for the next 30mins.
I almost got home, as I turned into my street, and it let go, making fun crunching noises
Since it was dark, and I was home, I didnt really care too much knowing it would be a cv or a wheel bearing that had let go.
Next morning, because the mighty hilux is sooooo extreme... .... I drove it around to a mates garage, very carefully about 2kms away, where I pulled it all down, put a new cv in and put it back together and running again. I hadnt replaced a cv on a ifs lux before, but it wasnt too hard to do, so that was good. Save a few $$$ doing it myself too!
I ONLY got 531,000kms out of the original one
Better do the other one as well soon :-k
Plenty of time though, as that boot wasnt split or anything like the other one I replaced was.
Finished!
