Hi everyone,
I went to have a look at an IFS diff a few days ago, the owner can't remember what model/year/ratio it is, it's also been sitting for quite a while. All I need it for is to salvage the ring and pinion if it's a 3.727 ratio. Turned the pinion shaft to try and decipher the ratio and there was no movement in the output shafts. After a while of turning one output shaft the other started turning, but if I held one still while turning the other I still had no action at the pinion. Is this normal for a front diff? I've never encountered this on a solid rear.

The left side will be disconnected the Axel will turn inside
You will have to split the casing and see what is on the crown wheel

Thanks mate. It's a bit strange that there aren't any tags or markings on the housing. I might offer him $50 and take a gamble
