2005 GNN with A750F Auto- No reverse gear

Hi all,

Cannot see this topic in the search thread-
I have just purchased this dual cab ute (V6 auto) and as i was playing in the sand last week, i had to reverse up a small hill. When doing so, i herd a thud noise from the car, then no reverse? I have all other gears and no strange noises when driving, engages 4wd hi and lo without issue....

Only new to the hilux scene, but this does not sound common?

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction :)

Call an A750F specialist like Wholesale Automatics in Bayswater or similar.

Thx HK1837,

I have applied Toyota's manual procedure for selecting gears without any electrics connected and still no reverse. Basically they are saying some internal issue (mechanical) within the box.

No faults when scanning the vehicle either!

Quote from elsewhere: "if im not mistaken the reverse band in those trannys like the fords can be adjusted and when they're not on regular basis they burn out. the cheapest way out is to drop the tranny yourself split if from the tcase and take it to a shop to swap the band and that problem is fixed or you can just have them rebuild the whole tranny or... make sure you flush your system, you don't want all that burnt fiberous material flowing through your tranny"

Thx gen7xtracab.

I have dropped the pan and removed the valve body
Clean oil and very little on the magnets- surprisingly

So i have pulled the valve body down (in 3 pieces)
Tested the 2 solenoids that have anything to do with reverse.... I had a strange ohm reading so i will look to replace it, the other was fine.

Has anyone tested these valve bodies before?

Or put a kit through them maybe?
