stuck in 4Hi please help

Postby caveman57 on Sat, 07 Mar 2015 9:08 +0000

Hey guys this is my first post. I did a quick search and couldnt find anything, i have a 2008 SR and it doesnt matter if the hi/lo range gear selector is in 2wd or 4wd the gearbox stays in 4hi and the light stays on the dash.
i tried the reversing trick because it was really stiff to move earlier and now it all moves nice again.
Does anyone have any advice on how i can get it back into 2wd? Im pretty mechanically minded and i have a hoist at my disposal, but this is my work car and i need it running again asap. Thanks heaps in advance.

Mate I'm guessing what you're saying is that no matter where you put the hi-lo range selector the transfer case the truck remains in 4wd. I guess you can operate the main box normally. That would make it a transfer case problem. The first thing I would do is climb underneath and check the linkages from the lever to the transfer case. If nothing wrong there then get back to us.
Cheers.
