Whine when accelerating

Postby fgk228 on Sun, 18 May 2014 4:41 +0000

G'day.

Went for a drive the other day and ended up in a few deep bog holes.

Cleaned the car and noticed I had a whine.

So far I have changed transfer case, gear box and rear diff oil.

The rear diff oil was dirty due to a torn breather.

The whine comes in at 55kph and is vehicle speed dependent. Doesn't matter what gear. The whine only happens while accerating.

It sounds like it middle to rear of the car and makes nodiffernce if turning either way.

Pump lots of grease into ur uni joints and clean thoroughly your centre bearing. Probably one of those

I did grease the unis but no difference. It has a one piece drive shaft so no centre bearing.

It sounds a bit to loud for a uni.

I think it may be the pinion bearing or similar on the way out.

Hopefully not the gear box.

Thanks for the reply.
