2003 SR5 1kzte. Power steering problems.

Hi there

I have a 2003 SR5 with the 1kz-te, I am having issues with the power steering.

The power steering is not working at idle once the engine is at operating temperature, If I rev the engine the power steering starts to work again. The power steering works when I start the engine in the morning but as soon as the engine gets to operating temperature I lose it unless I hold the revs above idle.

It makes parking in the city rather difficult and its just dam right annoying.

If anyone has had this issue before or thinks they may know the problem please help!!

Have you checked your PS fluid? I'm changing mine atm as it's literally black when it should be red like coolant fluid... It may be fix your problem?

Yer I have topped up the fluid and its nice and clean.

I'd say the pumps failing.

Yer i thought that might be the case, its only done 160000km's though so it shouldn't be happening this early.
Would you recommend replacing the hole pump or just service it with the kit?
