Advise needed.

Postby Ricardoza on Mon, 09 Sep 2013 2:38 +0000

Hi All,
I have an issue on my LUX. its a 2005 model 3.0D4D.
the issue I have is when I drive the car under normal conditions, she drives good. but as soon as I release the throttle there is a shudder and a vibrating noise on the car.it continues until you press the clutch in then all is quiet again, release the clutch and it shudders. When I press on the throttle again the vibration goes away.
any advise on whet this could be?
help would be appreciated. :?

I was thinking the same (clutch) but I spoke to the workshop manager and he advised me that it is the Propshaft or the Diff. I don't think it is that as if it was these items it would have shuddered even when the clutch was pressed in.????

Not really advice but I noticed mine making a kind of ch ch ch ch noise while coasting just lately and as you say when accelerating you can't hear it and depress the clutch it stops. I haven't however had any shuddering.
I figured my throw out bearing was just contacting the diaphragm spring but buggered if I know?

Centre bearing, diff, no grease in splines on cardan shaft, broken engine mount??. Something in the drive train which is reacting to load, via throttle on or overrun. Have a good look under there (not a girls look) give everything a good wobble and twist. If this is not your area then take it to the mechanic.

So we found the issue. it was the prop-shaft. both universals and the carrier bearing worn. a hefty price to have it overhauled and balanced again.
