LOST 4WD PLEASE HELP!!!!

Postby hidemylux on Mon, 03 Sep 2012 5:56 +0000

Hi all, My worst fear just happened, heading up a challenging hill climb, nearly at the top then my 1kz 2001 started to violently bounce, BANG i have just lost 4wd. I have 2wd, low range, the 4wd light wont go but i can still drive in 2wd i thought it could be an axle or something in the transfer case, though the noise did come from the right side. When i push the 4wd button you can here a small electrical click but thats it any thoughts would be great. :(

As the others have said the bouncing probably created wheel spin and when the spinning wheel came down and suddenly stopped it blew your cv. Where did it happen?

I may be wrong, but I think the earlier models use to engage by using a vacumme in the diff and there is line under front driver guard with a little filter in it, I remeber it happining to me lost the filter on a bumpy hill climb and made an afull bang noise and lost the dash board light stuck a screw in the end if the tube and had 4x4 again and dash lights.

just a thought

made it to sashia (at the top somwere not sure I spelt it wright) in 2x4 and machanic said stick a screw in this line, and all was good.

PROBLEM SOLVED
jacked truck up and spun the front wheels front right cv is completely goosed, the light on the dash is now going too, the plug doesnt have a clip on it so with the shock loading it bounced off its perch, also gained another 10mm in lift once i emptied out the protection plate underneath.

Thanks for all input
