Heavy duty clutch

Postby Matt02hilux on Tue, 07 Aug 2012 7:42 +0000

Hi guys
Im getting a squeal when i load up the clutch. I think its from either the spiggot bearing or thrust bearing in the clutch. So i thought while i was fixing that i will put in a new clutch.
So should i put in a heavy duty 4x4 clutch? Or just a standard? I may be looking into turboing the 5l-e in a few years time.
What are your opinions?
Cheers

Go the HD mate. may as well for the extra few $100. you get that assurance when towing or pulling people out etc. and the HD's usually dont feel too much heavier on the foot either :)

What brands have people used and how much did it cost? I have a feeling mine wont be lasting very much longer.

How much milage (and driving / towing) are you guys doing when changing the clutch ?

im at 244000kms on the original clutch - no major towing , and some Soft roading. i`m feeling my clutch might be up for replacement.

Hi Mate, I put in an Exeedy HD clutch (the pink one) at 80k. Now have 140K, no problems, just the throw out bearing is making a bit of noise when pushing in clutch. If thats what it is??

Any thoughts on the Toyota heavy duty clutch vs the after-market options. I'm getting towards 100,000k in my 08 Hilux, and do quite a bit of sand and track driving towing a TVan. No clutch problems yet, apart from a bit of a squeak when I depress the pedal, but I guess with the workload involved it's just a matter of time.

I was reading the thread in the Ultimate forum board on their HD clutch option...sounded good. They have a well earned reputation so I would be confident with what they're offering and dealing with them. Cheers Noel
