Transfer box - donor parts

Taking a bit of a shot in the dark here... I'm trying to sort out my busted transfer box and of course the only replacement available at the moment is a manual (shift to 4 hi). Anyone know if the internals are similar enough to the electronic shift for me to use as the doner?
Does the donor being top shift and my truck forward shift make a difference?

My engine is a 1KZ ant is has the shift on the fly 4wd button on the stubby lever. The transfer box is chain driven, and it's a forward shift with 23 spline input shaft.

Thanks in advance!

depends whats wrong with it...if its mechanical, most parts will fit.....if its in regards to the shift mechanism then the shift rods are different to suit both the top shift and auto 4wd button from memory.

I used the shift rods off an 03 transfer case when I rebuilt my 07 transfer to become a top shift for the crawl box install.

whats the problem with your box?

Hey mmaaxx,
When I try to engage the 4wd I hear and feel the "clunk" that I normally would when disengaging... Haven't been brave enough to have it opened up to see exactly what is busted yet.

Id reccomend taking it to a tranny specialist personally....you "may" be wasting your time pulling it apart unless you understand the internals....

just an idea...take it to a tranny shop, "show" him the fault and tell him you'll remove the transfer case and drop it off...that may save you a few bux on labour..

Luckily labour costs in Jamaica aren't as bad as they are there in Australia...

Good advice though. Thanks!

Update to close this one off... Parts are mostly aike. But after tear down we found that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the transfer. Issue needed up being related to the 4wd actuator motor.

Thanks for the advice mmaaxx
