I took my new 04 Hilux for my first drive on the highway today, it has a bit of diff whine at highway speeds. It's my first Hilux, is a bit of noise normal in these due to the low diff gearing?

Thanks mate, I'll have a look. I'll just have to work out how to do it first! But that's part of the fun of having a different type of car than I'm used to.

Hi guys,

I took the Hilux up to the Hunter Valley today for work.

I took a quick video with my phone to show the noise, as it's my first Hilux and I am not sure if it's excessive or not.

The noise kicks in at 10 seconds, which is when I am doing 110k's. I had my trailer on, but it's the same without it.

I had the same noise after a 5000k driving holiday, it took them a while to find it but have just had the rear wheels bearings replaced at a cost of $955 and no more noise. For some time i thought it was just tyre noise but replacd the tryes and noise was still there and getting worse so looked a little harder and found the problem. the bearing arnt that expensive but are hard to change and labour is the biggest expense.
