Starter motor

need some help. I have a 92 surf ssrg and the starter motor is not running. trying to save costs by removing it my self but have little to no mechanical skills. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You need to determine if its the solenoid contacts or the worn brushes
after removal, with jumper leads, attach the black to one of the mounting lugs. The red then gets jabbed onto the bolt next to the one you removed to get the battery cable off on the solenoid
. If the starter spins with a burst into life you need to replace the contacts in the solenoid. If you set sweet FA you have to replace the brushes which will require a large soldering iron or blow lamp, oxy.

Thanks for the advice. now i just need to figure out how to get the damn thing out!
