Standard Loom Arrangement

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone knows where on a 2004 twin cab ... in a standard loom is the closest to the rear of the vehicle a permanent positive ... whether it is used or not?

To explain, the standard loom comes with the wiring for central locking, mine is a lower model and doesn't have central locking. In the standard loom there "SHOULD BE" extra cores for reversing & auxilliary connections in a 7 pin trailer plug, I can't find these extra 2 cores.

I am just looking for a permanent positive as close as possible to the rear of the vehicle so that I don't have to run a whole new install to the battery or the fuse panel. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions or even solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Just a small light, probably led so nearly no current drag.

Okie then.
I'll have another look, but I wonder whether it's the loom on the drivers or passenger side of the vehicle? I guess I'll start by looking on the other side to where I was last time. I don't have a Book, do you know if the colour coding is Australian Standard? Orrrrr "Toyota Standard"? ;) ;)

Okie, I've had another look, dunno which vehicle I was looking at with a loom on both sides, but this one only has the loom on the drivers side and it's only a 6 wire loom to the rear of the vehicle (brake, tail, blinkers, reverse and earth). There is no provision for a tow-bar connection with 7 wires. I guess I am back to running a separate feed back to the fuse panel or battery ... Unless of course someone has info on hooking into the cabin interior light or some other "unused" feed closer to the rear of the vehicle? Like maybe the unused central locking cables? Aahhh, what about using the rear window demister? That'd be no hassle to hook over to the tub. After 30 something years of driving (stopping every 2 hours of course  ) I've never used that rear window demister. I think this'll be my solution, unless someone has a better idea before I actually start the job in the next day or two.

Just remember all the wiring in the car is made for the jobs it has to do you can over load it very easy.
The safest way is to run a new wire with a fuse at the battery end.

Dave,
Yeah, as a sparky I understand current carrying capacity. I'm just trying to avoid having to pull up carpets etc. Running in the chassis rails isn't an option living on a dirt road. Even the standard loom has suffered damage on occasion. Quite annoying sometimes. :)

Bit the bullet today and got started. Found old mate before me had run a twin from the back to under the driver's seat. Just checked and then used it. Also found a fuse coming off the battery that livens up the hand brake light, the timing belt light, the fan and the radio. Anyone know what this kind of mod might have originally been intended for???
