trickle charge MX5 and D250S

any opinions on whether i can use a MX5 trickle charger on a reserve battery with a D250S providing charge as drawn or must i use a smart pass too ?

The vehicle has solar panel or alternator providing charge during driving and daytime conditions , at night when the vehicle is parked up in my garage and no solar input exists it will be plugged in to mains power to run the MX5 charger .

The reserve battery has a constant 1.8Amp load , the MX5 would be permanently connected and mounted under the bonnet.

Can this work ?

thanks for reply.

If the D250S is constantly compensating from the input and the MX5 charger constantly sensing state of charge , isnt there a risk that they wouldnt play well together ?

Thats the unknown factor that they might confuse each other due to the sophistication of their smart electronics .

also , If i am putting 13.4 - 15 VDC on to the solar input terminal , what will that do to the solar panel if i dont have a relay to isolate either one of them ?
