Map sensor voltage

Map sensor voltage

Postby Thelocalsparky on Mon, 30 May 2016 8:47 +0000

what voltage should I be getting at my map sensor? With key on I have 12.9 v and 1.4 v that drops if I apply vacume and rises up to 4.8 it I pump it with a bike pump. The sensor is labeled 5 volt so I would think that should be voltage at rest?

It reads an output of 0-5v. Not sure but I believe it is usually 5 volts in and signal voltage of 0-5v out. Boost = higher voltage vacuum = lower voltage.

just a question to all the smarter engine guys out there. :D

if i put in a resistor inline to drop input back to computer would i raise boost pressure??? decrease of .6 of a
volt i was thinking as this would raise boost i assume by 20%,
i will add more fuel by steinbuaer chip on full/max setting

and does the computer need an accurate input to fuel car?? or is this taken care of by MAF??
with no need for map sensor to be accurate as this just controls turbo ?
thoughts Guys

Balckdeluxe - The tuning guys do a voltage clamp for this application. The voltage is clamped on the outbound signal to just under maximum std boost reference, the voltage is then released at set boost / voltage to tell the computer to back off thereby capping the boost. I don't think a simple resistor will function as you want it to as the computer will not be seeing expected voltages where it expects them - wont be an issue in higher ranges but will be in the lower end of the rev range I suspect.

If you want to add boost. Diesel smart sell a DSI to do just that.

Manual Mapper

I have the one in the photos on a 1KZ Hilux. Works a treat. I don't have EGR on my engine, so it just controls fuel input.
