Wiring Light bar 2000 Hilux

Wiring Light bar 2000 Hilux

Postby greenhilux on Fri, 04 Dec 2015 2:08 +0000

Hey guys,

I am currently trying to wire a couple of light bars onto my 2000 Hilux. I have done a lot of reading on negative switching and followed every wiring diagram I can find on here and google. I have gotten to the stage where my light bars will come on with high beam, off on low beam and on when the lights are off with the ignition on. I really want to wire them so they come on with high beam only.
Can some please direct me to a wiring diagram that will allow me to run it with high beam only.

Thanks!
Mark

R you using a pre made loom or wiring it from scratch? All you need is to find the wire that earths with high beam and run that thru ya switch then to 86. Then instead of putting 85 to earth you just hook it to constant power.

if you pick up both the common and high beam wire at the back of the headlight itself it doesn't matter what sort of switching it is.

When high beam is on power will be across the common terminal and high beam which are the two parallel pins on a H4 headlight bulb, You will find that one is positive and the other negative, so use the negative as the ground of the relay and run the positive to the relay via your switch. This way it does not matter which is switched. Just be weary that if the relay is diode protected you have to have the polarity correct at the relay 85 and 85 terminals or you will do damage to the light circuit, just a fuse if it is the correct size but if the fuse is too big.....much drama. This is the reason I only use resistor protected relays.
