Anyone used these headlights?

Anyone used these headlights?

Postby kerode on Mon, 19 Jan 2015 8:45 +0000

Hey guys, yesterday I picked up an '01 workmate with 150,000kms for a grand for the missus, to my surprise she has found an interest in minitrucks like myself! I was planning on putting the sr5 headlights in it, when I can across these 'altezza projectors' and was wondering if anyone else here has used them? They come with a different harness, which I'm not to concerned about but I'm just wanting to hear other peoples thoughts on their performance and on the wiring setup etc!?

here are the lights:

I've got similar lights on my '13 SR5 and the projectors are quite good.

One thing to note tho is that as you are going from a single bulb setup (H7 hi-lo combined) to a dual bulb (H1's) setup when you hit high beam your projectors will switch off when the inside lamps come on. This can be a real pain especially when using HIDs as every time you dip your headlights you have to put up with creeping black until the low beams warm up again. Also looks really odd with the inside lights on but the "main" outside ones off.

I got around this by adding a diode (should really probably be a relay) between the high and low beam lines so that when the high beam is turned on the low beam stay on also. Not sure on the legality of this tho ... I havent been stopped for it yet.
Cheers,
Scuba Dooba

yeah I've got them in my 09 lux, and they seem ok, in all honesty though I got better vision with the stock lights, in regards to keeping both lights on at the same time, could you explain how you did this!? I was talking to a guy a couple of weeks ago and he has them in his ford and got fined because both lights weren't on at the same time :?

Do a bi-xenon projector retrofit, uses the stock housing, bright as, and won't blind anyone.
