Digital Vault Meters.

Digital Vault Meters.

Postby HLUXRY on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 9:48 +0000

Hey guys! Been looking at getting a digital vault meter for the lux.
Is there any you can recommend? Seen a few on eBay that are only a few bucks. Are they worth it?

Cheers

I've played around with the cigarette lighter ones. They aren't as accurate as a multimeter but will give you a rough guide, ie. within half a volt. You'll want something wired direct to the battery to get an accurate reading though.

Not sure I'f you can stretch to a scan gauge 2, but I think they are the best. Do a Google search of them or even a search on here. Personally wouldn't be with out one

Agree on the ScanGauge II. Money well spent.

Ive got a JayCar cig lighter one. Was only around $20 and works really well. It seems to be pretty accurate too.

Cheers,

Chris.

Just checked it out.
Thats far too technical for me. Mist of the features i wouldnt use anyway. Just like the factory dash features in the hilux now. Never scroll through them.

Yeah I have the same looking VOLT meter (spelling   ) but mine reads to two decimal places and I have found it to be accurate
I have since changed to the round EBay one the same size as a ciggy lighter as it fits on my dash better but is not as easy to read as the one you are looking at and would prefer it if it fitted where I want it
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

I've got one very similar to this installed into the centre console monitoring both main and second battery -

And one of these in the back monitoring my second battery

Can vouch for both ... Seem to be pretty damn accurate

I always like to know if my vault is in good condition.

As to a VOLT meter ;

mine's just a generic recessed one , with a simple 3 way switch to decide between starter and auxillary circuits (i often monitor both throughout a trip... just incase I'm getting a drain from somewhere on my starter, or likewise a charging issue on auxillary).
